Having had its premiere in the Orizzonti section at the Venice Film Festival, Late Fame follows Ed Saxberger, a forgotten 1970s New York poet, who now works in the post office. After a flattering young admirer appears on his doorstep, Ed is beckoned into a coterie of twentysomething admirers who anoint him as a rediscovered genius. Wickedly ironic and unexpectedly poignant, Late Fame is about the illusory effect of praise on the soul, and the lingering ghostly presence of the past. Willem Dafoe’s stunning performance is in the Oscars buzz. Directed by Kent Jones who had huge success with the film documentary Hitchcock/Truffaut in 2015.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
