Directed by indie filmmaker Mike Figgis, Megadoc follows the production of Megalopolis by Francis Ford Coppola. Coppola gave full access to Figgis, including archives, and the fly-on-the-wall documentary includes interviews with the cast and crew who gradually opened up about his unique methods. ‘What a privilege to be a witness to such a moment in film history,’ says Mike Figgis, who documented the production starting from 2022 with the shoot, rehearsals, and post-production. Premiering at Venice Film Festival, Megadoc includes interviews and footage of Francis Ford Coppola, Eleanor Coppola, Spike Lee, Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Dustin Hoffman, Shia Labeouf, Laurence Fishburne, Jon Voight, Talia Shire, and Robert DeNiro, among many others. Megadoc is a portrait of Coppola’s creative process, decades-long journey of creating his self-financed passion project, Megalopolis, which almost bankrupted him.
