The roughness of nature reflects in its inhabitants’ faces, the mystic knowledge of ancestors, ancient legends are passed down in the Colombian desert of Tatacoa ––a vast, arid area full of secrets, and the dead. After years of absence, Ciro returns to the family house in the desert, at the bedside of his dying mother. As he confronts his father and those he has abandoned, the last guardians of the desert will present him a final puzzle. With its score composed by Tindersticks, The Black Snake had its world premiere at the ACID sidebar at Cannes. Most of the cast of the film are amateurs from the village where the film is set.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
