Like a spectre in the darkness, a man appears at a fence separating a vast construction site from the outside. His name is Alboury. He demands the body of his brother who died earlier that day on the site. He says he will hound the two men behind the fence –Horn, the construction site manager, and Cal, a young engineer– until he is delivered the body. Internationally acclaimed director Claire Denis directs this razor-sharp drama set over 24 hours, in the vein of her classic features 35 Shots of Rum, Chocolat, Beau Travail, and White Material. As with most Claire Denis films, The Fence is scored by Tindersticks. Delving into the dark profundity of inequity, exploitation of labour, and masculinity the film world premiered at Toronto.

This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
