‘Even in goodbye there is grace, and even in sorrow, there is space for joy,’ says director Isabel Coixet for her latest film which premiered at Toronto. The film follows Marta, who after her breakup, reacts by withdrawing into herself. When she loses her love she loses her appetite, too, but soon enough, she discovers that this has more to do with her own health than the pain of separation. Now, everything changes: the taste of food, the music, the desire, the certainty of the choices that were made. A delicate, heartfelt, touching tribute to fleeting life, an essay on ‘sweet, human legacy’ made out of love, Three Goodbyes is adapted from Michela Murgia’s autobiographical book.
This film is screened with the support of Istituto Italiano Istanbul.
This film was a Meetings on the Bridge participant.
