A chance encounter on a cruise ship awakens a first love that treads on fragile misunderstandings, ancient myths, and unsolved secrets. Konstantina Kotzamani’s latest film that premiered at Locarno is set on a cruise ship, the Neoromantica, as it crosses the Mediterranean. Among pensioners who yearn for Marriage Margaritas, Mary, a teenage girl, wanders the casino and hits her own jackpot in love. Under the whimsical Aegean moon, Greek myths meet Arabian Nights. What Mary Didn’t Know is written and directed by Konstantina Kotzamani, whose short films were presented within a retrospective at Istanbul Film Festival in 2021.
